Assessment

Cherokee Pediatric Therapy currently focuses on providing an exclusive assessment of how ADD medicaiton affects children and adults. After a physician prescribes ADD medication, we will assist you in finding out how the medication is affecting the child/adult. We look at factors such as autonomic responses (e.g., EEG), memory, attention, distration, etc. This data can then be taken back to your physician to decide the best course of treatment. Click on ADD Evaluations for more information.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haylie started therapy at Cherokee Pediatric Therapy Inc.  in August 2004. At that time she made no eye contact, never spoke a word you could understand. She had been dismissed by her speech therapist that claimed she was unable to help Haylie. She had been in non-productive OT for 2 years prior.

After one month, Haylie began to imitate language some and complete some simple instructions. She then began ABA therapy in January at Cherokee Pediatric Therapy Inc.  Within weeks we learned that Haylie has enormous amounts of information but needed to learn how to get it out. She now will answer questions, makes eye contact, frequently, initiates affection, requests people to play with her, identifies hundreds of items by name and plays on the internet by herself. She actually teaches herself to play the games on Nick Jr. and Disney.com and navigates freely on her own.

We also purchased the DT Trainer and she began using that in March. We quickly found that Haylie is capable of performing many academic age appropriate skills.

Haylie has progress from a 2 year old “persona” to a five year old in less than one year with the therapy she has received at Cherokee Pediatric Therapy Inc.

We are growing!.
Our ABA program is a smash hit; only one opening left. We are currently working on converting the ABA program to a “not-for-profit” entity to seek grants and help more parents utilize this exciting program.

Our collaborative program (where OT, SLP, ABA and PT work together) has helped many of our kids. In the last month, we have assisted three children progress from sign language to using 2-3 word statements.

In an effort to help the community, we have offered several parents and groups the use of our clinic at no charge. We can now link you to parents who offer GCF foods, seminars, and play groups.

Finally, some of our daycare staff has enjoyed working with our children so much that they offer parents baby sitting on Saturdays. Contact us to find out how we can watch your kids while you go shopping or to a movie.
